Calling all current 8th-11th graders in Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac! Are you looking for an awesome way to spend your summer that will also give you a head start for high school and college? Then look no further than the Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) Summer Academy at Marian University!
What is UBMS Summer Academy?
The UBMS Summer Academy is a non-residential, six-week program designed to help you explore your academic potential and prepare you for future success. During the program (running from June 17th to July 26th this year), you'll be immersed in a fun and engaging environment where you can:
- Get hands-on with learning: Through interactive activities and projects, you'll gain a deeper understanding of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
- Explore different career paths: Take educational field trips and meet professionals from various fields to discover your dream job.
- Sharpen your college readiness skills: Learn valuable test-taking strategies, application tips, and financial aid resources.
- Build your confidence: Participate in team-building exercises and workshops to develop strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Make lasting connections: Network with peers and mentors who share your academic interests.

Our 2024 Summer Academy theme, "Shifting into Different Gears," is all about helping you navigate the exciting transitions from middle school to high school and beyond. We'll provide the tools and support you need to adjust to new academic challenges, explore different learning styles, and discover your full potential.
Who is UBMS for?
Whether you're just starting high school or are a seasoned upperclassman, UBMS can benefit you. It's a fantastic opportunity for students from both Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac school districts, especially those interested in STEM fields or who are first-generation college students or come from low-income families.
Spots are filling up fast!
UBMS is a federally funded program that serves a limited number of students (62 this year!), so don't wait! The application deadline is Friday, May 17th. Talk to your parents, teachers, counselors, coaches, or mentors – they can all tell you how UBMS can help you achieve your academic goals.
