Greetings!
We hope this email
finds you well. For the past few months, members of the UBMS team have been
preparing multiple aspects of the upcoming 11th edition of the
Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) Summer Academy! We would like to provide
you with some important information regarding the program and upcoming events.
Program
Background
First and
foremost, we would like to remind you that the UBMS program is a nationwide
initiative that exists in our community through a partnership between Marian
University, the Fond du Lac School District, and the School District of North
Fond du Lac. We are proud to offer this program locally, providing college and
career readiness services to our students.
New
and Prospective UBMS Participants
We also want to
bring to your attention that, so far, we have welcomed 13 new students
in the program, and we have two more interviews coming up this week. Through
the end of this week, we will still be accepting new application from the
students at both school districts who are still working on theirs. If you know
some of these students please encourage them to finalize their application. If
you would like to share the application with someone, here is the link to it: https://bit.ly/3Erp6Ss.
Summer
Academy Dates
The UBMS Summer
Academy is just around the corner. As
previously announced, it is scheduled to take place from June 19th to July
28th. Under the theme of "Building for a Better Future,"
your students will have the incredible opportunity to engage in classes,
seminars, workshops, and various fun educational enrichment activities
throughout the six weeks. Please note that sessions will run Monday through
Friday, with the exception of July 3rd and July 4th. Our closing day is
scheduled for Friday, July, 28th and more details will follow
throughout the summer
For our new and
continuing UBMS students, we kindly request that you confirm your participation
in the program if you haven't already done so. Please use the following form to
confirm: https://forms.gle/D51t4N5Az41S7YVP6.
Your prompt response will help us finalize our preparations and ensure that we
can provide the best experience for your students.
Summer
Academy Information Session
Additionally, we
would like to invite both students and parents to attend our annual summer
orientation (now called Summer Academy Information Session),
which will take place at the Stayer Center dining room on June 15th at 6 p.m.
We will provide refreshments, and this will be an excellent opportunity to
learn more about the program, meet the staff, and address any questions or
concerns you may have. We understand that scheduling conflicts may arise.
Therefore, if you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact the team
via email at trio.ubms@marianuniversity.edu
or send a text message to 920-266-9397.
During this
meeting, we will go over the some of our programming, schedule, logistics, and
students’ needs for the summer academy. There will also be the typical
paperwork for students and parents to fill out and sign. New this year, in
addition to new and returning members of Team UBMS, we will have a special
guest in person with us, Mills Rodgers, who will join us from Austin, Texas.
2023
Summer Academy Offerings
Our offerings this
summer will include the following classes: 1) English Composition (Personal
Storytelling), 2) 3D Printing, 3) Statistics, 4) World Literature, 5) Hebrew,
6) Creative Math (starting on July 6th), and Lego Engineering

hesitate to reach out to us.
Gratitude
and Closing
It was a very
challenging school year for the UBMS program. However, more importantly,
multiple great things happened because of the combined support and dedication
of parents, students, UBMS staff, and community partners at the schools and
beyond. Thank you all for your continued support and partnership in the UBMS
program. Together, we will continue to empower all program participants to
reach new heights and build a better future.
Best regards,
Team UBMS,
