Math and Science in the Field of Health Care

Marian University's Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) program is pleased to announce our second program in the "Math and Science in My Daily Job"series. Please mark your calendars for:

Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Marian University Stayer Center 8:30 AM - Noon.
PRESENTED BY: Northeast Wisconsin Area Health Education Center - NEWAHEC

The mission of NEWAHEC is to enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, for the under-served population in northeastern Wisconsin. Through the prudent use of available resources, we achieve our mission primarily through the education of present and future health professionals, by developing creative partnerships with academic institutions and community organizations..

UBMS students will spend the morning exploring the areas of Clinical Lab Science and Forensic Science; Therapy; and Radiology & Diagnostic Instrumentation.  Each unit will also involve several hands-on activities.  There will be a snack break!

Health care careers that will be covered include:  Medical Lab Tech, Forensic Psychologist, Athletic Trainer, Respiratory Therapist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, and Radiologic Technologist - just to name a few!

UBMS career exploration presentations serve to help our students gain knowledge and appreciation for math and science in a variety of areas.  Ideally, pursuit of a career in health care will be the path for some of our students.

This is a required program for all of our students.  Parents are invited to attend, but UBMS staff request notification of parents and/or additional guests attending for planning purposes.

Students are asked to please inform Tracy if unable to attend this event and a make-up assignment will be given.
