From June 17th to July 26th, the 2024 UBMS Summer Academy will offer a variety of engaging classes to fuel your intellectual growth. With the theme "Shifting into Different Gear," this year's program promises to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and propel students into new realms of knowledge and discovery.

Applied Mathematics - Taught by Horace Mann High School teacher and Marian University alumnus Daniel Hively, this course will make math come alive! Apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations and gain a deeper understanding of the subject.
Environmental Science - Led by Fond du Lac High School teacher and Marian University alumna Marissa Nothem, explore the wonders of our planet and delve into pressing environmental issues.
Food Science - Embark on a culinary adventure with Elizabeth Stavropoulos (Marian University alumna and teacher at St. Mary's Springs Academy). Learn the science behind your favorite foods and get creative in the kitchen.
Latin for Math and Science - Taught by Horace Mann High School teacher Theodore Stavropoulos, this course will unlock the secrets of Latin, a foundation for many scientific terms.
Oral Communication - Hone your public speaking skills with Marian University faculty member Merle Alix. Gain confidence and become a master communicator.
World Literature: Science Fiction - Take a journey through fantastical worlds with Merle Alix (Marian University faculty). Explore classic and contemporary science fiction literature. Isaac Asimov's book "I, Robot" will be the primary learning resource for this class.

In addition to these stimulating courses, participants can look forward to a variety of workshops, seminars, and Friday field trips, providing opportunities for hands-on learning, career exploration, and college readiness. Company tours, college visits, and other enriching experiences will further expand students' horizons and inspire them to reach for new heights.

Prospective UBMS students: Apply before the deadline! This program is open to students enrolled in either the Fond du Lac School District or the School District of North Fond du Lac, finishing 8th grade or currently in grades 9-11. The application deadline is Friday, May 17th.
